"Regional Partnerships - Success Stories
By the Government of Alberta Municpal Affairs
A group of 13 partners in the Calgary region wish to develop a regional identity, vision, and organizational structure. This exercise will review a spectrum of options from casual cooperation to a more structured regional forum. The partnership will select the model that best meets its regional goals.
This partnership is also developing regional projects in the areas of transportation, emergency services, environmental management, and economic development. These projects, or regional priorities, have been selected to benefit residents and businesses in the Calgary region by protecting those qualities about the region that are cherished, while planning a bold new future.
The municipalities involved with the Calgary Regional Partnership include the Cities of Calgary and Airdrie, the Towns of Black Diamond, Chestermere, Cochrane, High River, Okotoks, Strathmore, and Turner Valley, and the Municipal Districts of Foothills and Rocky View. The Townsite of Redwood Meadows Administration Society and the Tsuu T'ina Nation are also participating. The partnership is currently working with many provincial departments including Municipal Affairs, Environment, and Economic Development to accomplish its regional objectives.
